Truth For You Ministries
Biblical truth for spiritual growth and daily living.
We proclaim Him...
...that we may present every man complete in Christ.
Col. 1:28

Truth for You Today
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold [the doorway] of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
PSALM 84:10-11

A Doorman for God
Introduction
There are many things a person can be in the world today. But the greatest of all is to be a servant of the Lord, realizing that what He has to offer is greater than any position in the world.
I. A Shield
1) He protects us from the attacks directed toward us by Satan.
(A) The shields were used in ancient times for protection in warfare.
(B) As David leans on God as his defense from the perils of the pilgrim way, so should we.
II. The Joy of Doing
1) Little things are necessary in their place.
(A) Should not be regarded lightly.
(B) The doorman was as important as the priest at the altar. (C) If we do it for God, then we can be filled with joy by the little things as easily as by the big things.
III. Standing at the Threshold
1) I had rather be a doorman for one day than be a king in a land of iniquity.
(A) For at the threshold, God will give protection.
(B) V. 11 - He is our sun, our light, life, and our joy.
IV. God Gives Us All Good Things
1) 1 Corinthians 2:9 - but just as it is written,“Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”
2) 1 Timothy 4:8 - for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
3) Those who trust in Him and serve Him - even as a doorman - will be greatly rewarded and blessed.
Conclusion
The choice is yours: 1) a doorman for the Lord (or for whatever He wants for your life), or 2) you can dwell in the wickedness of the world, being a leader for Satan!
